Volunteer
The two main ways you can assist The Outreach Center is by volunteering your time and money. Those areas are always the greatest need. Almost all of The Outreach Center staff and workers are volunteers and over 99% of all donations go directly to sustain our current programs and develop new ones.
Volunteer opportunities exist in
all areas and specific jobs are
listed below:
Food Distribution
The Outreach Center’s Food Distribution is an ongoing process
and volunteers are needed every
day, Monday-Friday from 8:00 AM
to 5:00 PM. Volunteers are needed
to fill grocery bags and to assist
in receiving
and preparing food for shipment
to other areas and ministries.
We are also in need of qualified
truck drivers to pick up donated
food items. Around 130 volunteers
are needed every Tuesday night
for the main food distribution.
Youth groups are welcome! From
6:00 PM-8:00 PM, around 1,000
families receive food. Volunteers
are needed to fill grocery bags
and grocery carts, to push the
groceries out to the client’s vehicle, crowd control and security,
client registration, and other
areas.
The Fresh Start Education Center
The Outreach Center’s Fresh Start Education Center is currently
in need of tutors and educational
assistants. Operating hours are
daily from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM and
Monday and Tuesday evenings from
5:00 PM-8:00 PM. We are also currently
looking for volunteers to teach
ESL (English as a Second Language)
classes. Volunteer opportunities
also exist for light clerical duties,
such as answering the phone and
greeting visitors.
The Fresh Look Clothing Center
The Fresh Look Clothing Center
is in need of volunteers on a
daily basis for sorting, sizing
and organizing clothing. Help
is also needed in distribution
to the needy on Saturdays from
10:00 AM-3:00 PM and Monday evenings
from 6:00 PM-8:00 PM.
The Fitness and Nutrition Program
Certified workout instructors are
needed for The Fitness and Nutrition Program. We also need volunteers
to assist in exercise classes for the elderly, aerobics classes,
and weight training classes. Currently, workout classes are held
2 nights per week for both men and women. We would like to expand
those hours to include daytime classes.
The Outreach Center Office
Clerical volunteers are always
needed in The Outreach Center office. Opportunities exist for
answering the phone, assisting visitors, light typing, preparing
mailouts, graphic design, cleaning, and other areas.
