Our hybrid grocery store style market combines both hunger (symptom) relief with educational empowerment addressing the specific causation of the individual’s need. The innovative food distribution/education system provides food, diapers, and household items to 20-25 targeted families bi-weekly. Conditional to participation, clients attend targeted, proactive learning sessions specific to countering identified barriers within their lives. Clients receive "Outreach Dollars" to shop in the market. Trainees in our Workforce Development Program acquire job skills by operating a point of sale system, stocking the store, and maintaining inventory. During the past two years, 90% of TOC Market program participants reported increased self-esteem through program participation, and 55% of TOC Market participants reported an increase in discretionary income.
